RLC components & PS2 Jumper Change NG PS2 Connector, RLC components, and Mount PS2 Jumper NG OK NG OK Measure PS2 5V_Dual is correct Check PS2 Jumper is ok, 5V_Dual trace is not open, inductor is ok. Change NG PS2 Jumper, fix the open trace or change NG inductor NG OK NG OK Measure PS2 CLK & Data signal is OK Measure the bias value of CLK & DATA signals, trace NG signal’s connection. Change NG RLC components or fix any pcb open OK NG Change Super I/O or SB Finished

Change Defect Connector OK NG Change Defect Component Check USB 5V (SB) --VBUS(USB Vcc) Check USB 5V Jumper, Related Trace, Fuse, Inductor. OK NG Check USB 48Mhz at Clock Generator Check 48 Mhz Related CLK Gen, Resistor, Trace Change Defect Component OK NG Check USB-, USB+ Signals Check USB-,USB+ Related SB, Resistor, Capacitor, Trace Change Defect Component OK Finished

  13. Repair Technique-Visual Inspection Visual inspection check USB connector appearance and inside pins no damaged, USB 5V(SB) jumper is mounted. 1

  14. Repair Technique-Check USB 5V_Dual Use Multi-meter to check USB 5V Vcc (5V_Dual) is correct. 2

  15. Repair Technique-Check CLK_USB Check USB CLK 48Mhz from CLK Generator. 3-1 3-2

  16. Repair Technique-Measure USB-,USB+ Use Multi-meter to measure USB-, USB+ bias voltage value. The value should be the same. If you find the value is high, please check related resistor or inductor is ok & trace is not open. If the value is low please check there’s no component short or SB short. If the problem is still existing after you check above, please try to change South Bridge. 4-1 4-2

  17. Q & A (Repair Experience) Most of USB problems caused by USB 5V Vbus (Vcc) is not correct. Sometimes we can find inductor bad, trace burned or forgot to mount USB jumper. If You’ve checked USB 5V, 48Mhz, USB- & USB+ signals but can’t find unusual root cause, please try to change South Bridge.

Repair Flow Chart START Visual Inspection to check SATA connector is no damaged NG OK Change NG connector, Test again NG OK Check CLK CK_SATA_SB, CK_SATA_SB# from Clock generator If no CLK check CLK Generator & related trace. resistors. OK NG NG OK Use meter to measure signal’s bias voltage value, compare with good MB. Trace to check related R.L.C. components and circuit trace. OK NG NG OK Change SB Finished

  25. Repair Technique-Measure SATA signals Use Multi-meter to measure SATA signals (A+ & A- , B+ & B-) Trace the circuit to SB if any signal is error. If there is no trace short or open please try to change SB. 3
