  3. Romans 6:3-7 . . .Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?4)Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

  4. . 5) For if (1ST)we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, 6) knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with [KATARGEO, rendered useless, ineffective], that we should no longer be slaves to sin; 7) for he who has died is freed from sin.

  5. Colossians 2:12 . . . having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. Ephesians 2:5-6 . . . even when we were dead in our transgressions, [God] made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus . . .

  6. 1 Corinthians 12:13 . . . For by one Spirit [Holy Spirit] we were all baptized [at the moment of salvation] into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

  7. AREALBAPTISM refers to a transforma- tion that takes place when a person is identified with someone or something else. He is changed by that identification. A RITUALBAPTISM is a ritual that identifies a person with water that is symbolic of something else. However, no real change takes place.
