  1. Essential Steps for Good Dental Hygiene

  2. Who doesn’t want a beautiful smile?

  3. Promote Good Oral Hygiene • Poor dental hygiene can not only ruin your smile, it can also lead to serious health problems. • A frequent visit to the dentist and regular brushing can help prevent this from happening. • But let’s talk about that in detail. • Here are more few tips how you can promote good oral hygiene.

  4. Brush Your Teeth Properly • Brush your teeth at least twice a day to remove debris that’s left after eating. And when brushing, take note of the up and down, back and forth motion. • Make sure that the bristles of your brush get in contact with the tooth surface and also near the gum line. • Gently brush the outer surfaces of your teeth and then move to clean the inside surfaces. Repeat the up and down, back and forth motion until you cover all your teeth. • If you’d be out and wouldn’t be able to brush your teeth, at least rinse your mouth with water to help remove food substances.

  5. Floss Daily • Brushing may not be enough to remove food particles in your mouth. This is why flossing is very helpful. • It can get to corners that your brush bristles or even your mouthwash wouldn’t be able to reach. • Consider flossing at least once a day. • Bring one with you when you’re going out.

  6. Gargle With Mouthwash • Mouthwash is not a substitute for brushing and flossing but it could help keep your teeth clean and your breath fresh especially when you’re always on the go.

  7. Clean Your Tongue • Bacteria thriving on your tongue can lead to bad breath and can also be dangerous for your health. • When you brush your teeth, do brush your tongue as well. • You can also talk to your dentist about a professional tongue cleaning product.

  8. Limit Your Soda Intake • Cut down on coffee, soda, and alcoholic beverages and you’re not only helping your teeth stay healthy, you also get to save money. • Drink more water instead. Or better yet, try milk. • Water will help clean your teeth while drinking milk will help strengthen it.

  9. Eat A Balanced Diet • Your teeth need calcium for it to stay strong. • Same goes for vitamin D as well as vitamin C. • So make sure to include fruits and veggies to your daily diet.

  10. Finally, See Your Dentist • Schedule a dental hygiene treatment with your dentist at least twice a year. • This way, your dentist will be able to detect if there are any potential problems in your mouth and suggest an appropriate program to fight the symptoms. • Don’t take your oral hygiene for granted. Apart from helping your keep a healthy smile, good dental habits also contribute to your overall health.
