  2. PANOGEN – Description • PANOGEN is a set of dedicated tools, intended to assist the different steps of manufacture of composite fabrics. These tools allow : • To program the flatten parts (plies, cut-pieces, tapes) from Catia V5 models • To define the nesting jobs (production management) with a possible link with an ERP system • To nest automatically the flatten parts (automatic nesting & optimisation) • To produce the NC code (post-processing) • This solution is designed to be used for contour following cutting machines. The following cutting technologies are taken into account : • Laser cutting • Ultrasonic cutting • Environment • Windows NT

PANOGEN –Main features • Part programming • Input: A composite Catpart document • Interactive work: • Selection of the composite entities (ply, cut piece, tape) to program • Automatic tasks: • Contours recognition • Extraction of the plies attributes (material, fiber orientation) • Customised manufacturing operations (contour profiling with appropriate approach & retract macros) • Marking operations • Output: One PANOGEN part file per ply, cut piece or tape. A PANOGEN part file includes all the needed data required for the further steps of the process (nesting, post-processing)

  10. Terminology Part file (.pie) File containing all nesting data of a part. This file is generated by the programmer from CATIA V5. Nest file (.pan) File defining a pile of sheet or a ribbon of composite and the parts to be nested. Code Matière Société (CMS) identification number of the material (sized of sheet steel, ribbon of composite), that will be used as nesting support. Nesting Nesting of parts in a support to optimize the material usage. Train (.train) File defining a suite of supports coming from the same job files and generated by a nesting order. Job files (.job ou .sji) List of files to be nested corresponding to one Job. The format can vary according to the system of management of workshop used. Order Entity of management defining for a part, a quantity to be produced and its priority. Planning (.pla) File defining the parameters of a set of files and the associated job files. Port-Processor (PP) Tool to convert a Nest file to a NC file (ISO file) Rivets for skeleton Rivets to maintain the pile of sheets, inserted into the support around parts / along the support.
