  2. What is GPFO? • The Greater Philadelphia Film Office is a government affiliated "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania. • The office oversees the creation and distribution of film, television, and entertainment productions.

  3. GPFO’s Mission • “Our mission is threefold. First, we serve to attract film & video production to the region, including everything from feature films to TV commercials to music videos and industrial films. Second, we provide the producer free assistance with parking, permits, labor and locations, and generally act as the liaison between the productions and the local community, cutting red tape as we go. Finally, we serve to grow the local film and video industry in every way possible, recognizing its huge economic impact in job creation and its unparalleled public relations effects for the region.” - film.org

About • First established in 1985 as a part of Philadelphia city government • Located at 1515 Arch Street, in the Philadelphia Public Works Office • Member of the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI) • GPFO is a regional economic development agency & non profit corporation. • Committed to the growth of the regional film production industry, the office has been responsible for over $3.5 billion in economic stimulus to the region.

  6. About • Acts a liaison between filmmakers and the industry: • Government officials • Film studios • Community Partners • Filmmakers • Coordinates permits, funding, and production assistance for filmmakers shooting in the region.

  7. Goals Established At Beginning of Internship • Build network of industry associates connected to GPFO. • Gain knowledge on the business perspective on the industry. • Participate in a variety of marketing and technology endeavors. • Implement concepts learned in MIS/ FOX coursework.

Social Media • Definition: Office utilizes a series of social media outlets to connect with patrons, filmmakers & the city of Philadelphia. • Current Pros/ Cons • Pro: 4 active social outlets, incorporate sponsors, promotional, Hootsuite • Cons: Tough to gage power of impact, limited in what to promote

  10. @GPFO • 3,000+ followers on both Twitter & Facebook • Promotes advertisers, productions, and film culture. • Incorporated in sponsorship package.

  11. @GPFO • Tumblr • Blog covering office’s history, current work, & partners. • Pushed through Facebook & Twitter. • Pintrest • Promotes locations, partners, talent & other resources for filmmakers • Additional advertising for corporate partners.

  12. Professional Listings > MemberClicks • Definition: Office provides a listing of local partners involved with the film industry through their current film.org site. This project is a transition from an older, less utilized system to a more user-friendly, innovative one.

  15. Film.org events > EventBrite • Definition: Office provides an event calendar showcasing any industry-centric event occurring within the city. This project is transitioning into an all inclusive software called EventBrite, which oversees the marketing and sales for an event.

  16. Film.org events > EventBrite • Current platform allows for GPFO to simply post and promote events. • Eventbrite not only promotes but allows platform to contact guests via email, manage ticket sales among other things.

  17. Analytics • Utilizing analytics has helped the office to extensively understand the power of their web-based technologies in connecting with users and promoting filmmaking within the city of Philadelphia. • Social Media • Website Film.org

  18. Analytics • Created analytics report through utilizing database excel sheets. • Utilized information from Twitter & Facebook as well as site’s report.
