Today… • What grade will I be in next year? • What do I need to graduate (classes/credits)? • What classes do I need to take next year? • What does the “R” mean on my schedule? • What Math class should I take? • Do I have to take an E2020 class? • What electives can I take? • OTEC, Dual Enrollment, Summer School, etc.

  3. Total Credits Needed to Graduate… * 21

  4. Minimum Credits Needed to be on track for graduation… 5.5 as a Sophomore: 11 as a Junior: 16.5 as a Senior:

  7. ENGLISH • English 9, 10, 11, 12 • English Electives are available • Journalism 2nd semester

  8. MATH • Algebra 1 • Geometry • Algebra 2 • Algebra 2 Year 1/Year 2 • Other Math E2020

  9. SCIENCE • Chemistry/Physics Essentials • Biology • Chemistry • Physics (E2020 Only) • Other Sciences E2020

  10. SOCIAL STUDIES • US History • Economics • Civics • World History

  11. VISUAL, PERFORMING, APPLIED ARTS • One full credit required in any of the following • Art • Music (Transfer) • Theater Arts (Transfer) • Career & Technical Education (CTE)

Career Technical Courses… • A great way to explore possible career options • A good way to confirm a personal interest • Don’t let traditional roles keep you from trying a CTE course that interests you • CTE courses are for every student Auto Business Construction Tech Design Consumer Science Graphics Hospitality Marketing Medical Woods Cosmetology Application due May 1st

  13. Credit Recovery • Schedule for required class that you have previously lost credit (Live or E2020) • After School Credit Recovery via 7th Hour • Summer School • Registration forms in my office • Must register by June 7th

  14. Beginning your schedule request… • Consult with your teachers when making decisions on core classes. • Make sure you are retaking required courses if you failed or lost credit. • Make sure you select electives based upon your career/college plans.

  15. Read the course offerings… • Check for pre-requisites • Grade level requirements • Course Offerings and descriptions are in the curriculum guide

  16. Dual Enrollment… • An opportunity to complete college classes while still in high school • PLAN, PSAT, ACT or MME scores are a prerequisite • This is college level work, be realistic • Consider your other commitments, such as jobs, volunteering, etc. May 15th Deadline for Fall 2013

  17. Requesting Courses • Appropriate core classes are pre-filled • Signatures—Student and Parents • List Alternatives- choose carefully as you may be assigned these courses • DO NOT FILL IN BLANK LINES FOR 1ST-4TH QUARTERS

What does that mean? • R – repeat course • E2020 – I have you scheduled to take the class E2020 • Algebra II vs Algebra II Year 1/Year 2 • Algebra II over 1 year • Algebra II over 2 years • You must take the full Algebra II to graduate • Math • You need to choose an additional math class: Financial Math, Math Models, or Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. • If you do not choose you will be assigned Financial Math.

Transcripts • Reading your transcript: • Work in progress • Review your transcript. • Check to make sure everything is correct. • If you find an error make note on the transcript and turn it in to your teacher WITH your schedule. I will speak with you individually. • If everything is correct, keep it.

  20. Forms Due: • Monday, April 29th • Return to your English teacher Bring all completed forms & Make sure you have signatures
