  2. WHAT IS LFBP? • The LFBP is a Pilot Project • First came live on the 12th December 2011 • New Initiative • Why it was set up – intergenerational worklessness • Began with 1 Key Worker and 1 Senior Key Worker. Team now has 1 Senior KW,3KW, 1 Admin Support and 1 Employment Advisor. • Complex issues – focus taking away from work

  3. Who are our clients? • We work with Families that live within the Lewisham Borough • Families must have a minimum of 2 adults claiming benefits (JSA/IS/ESA) • Referrals originally came from JCP • More recently we have gained referrals from other agencies such as; children centres, community mental health teams and multi agency teams such as Kaleidoscope.

  4. What we do • Each family is assigned a Key Worker • Outreach – meet families in community (libraries etc) • Key Worker completes FAP/WFA • Identify Barriers • Acts as an advocate for families • Discretionary Budget of up to £1000 • Employment Support – including interview techniques • Regular contact with families • Steering Group meetings (progress measures)

  5. Aims: • The main aim of the LFBP is to get families closer to employment – this could be by supporting them accessing basic skills • Get families into long term employment – accessing courses, • Empower Families – how to access services • Supporting them to make informed decisions

  6. Benefits changing... • As we all know, there will be some changes to the benefits system • Major impact on our families • It is important that we support our families during this time • We are lucky to have a close working relationship with the JCP
