  2. What is ruminant? Ruminant is an animal that has several stomachs and eat grass. This animal is a herbivore. What are the example of a ruminant?

  3. A cow

  4. Ruminant can digest the cellulose. WHY?? ***in their stomach (1st and 2nd chamber) have a large communities of bacteria and protozoa which will produce the cellulase. ***this enzyme can digest cellulose. 1. rumen 2. reticulum 3. omasum 4. abomasum The stomach of the ruminant

  5. Chewed food is passed to the rumen. The cellulasethat produce by the bacteria and the protozoa will digest cellulose. • Then, the food will enter reticulum. The cellulose will go further hydrolisis. The food now is called as cud. The cud is regurgitated, chewed again and reswallowed. • The cud is reswallowed and moved to the omasum. Here, the food will be breakdown into small particles by peristalsis. The water also removed from the cud. • Finally, the cud is move to the 4th chamber – abomasum. Gastric juice that contain digestive enzyme will digest all the food to the simplest particles and be absorb. rumen reticulum omasum abomasum
