OPENING OF THE KUZNETSOVSKY TUNNEL Objectives of the 3.9 km long Kuznetsovsky tunnel construction: • elimination of bottlenecks at the Far Eastern Railway; • reducing the lengthof the Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Sovetskaya Gavan rail line section by10,2 km; • increasing the traffic capacity of the section up to • 29 train pairsa day; • increasing the throughput capacity up to • 19,4 mil tons ayear.   6. COMPLETION OF THETUNNEL COMPLEX № 3 ON ADLER – ALPIKA SERVICE SKI RESORT ROUTE The grand joining of the tunnel complex № 3 took place on the 15th ofFebruary 2012. Implementation of a project to rebuild the railway line from Khasan (Russia) to Rajin (DPRK) 2011 – start of the reconstruction of the Khasan – Rajinrailway section in North Korea The first trial run was conducted on 13 October 2011– the first stage of the project has been completed The completion status of the railway infrastructure is estimated at 99% As part of implementing the 2nd stage of the project,work is underway to build a cargo transshipment terminal Completion date – late 2013 The initial stage calls for the transshipment of up to 4 mlntonsof coal per year The implementation of the project will enable establishment of a new freight shipping route: the port of Rajin (DPRK) – Tumangan (DPRK) – Khasan (Russia) – Russian section of the railways – Europe Customer: RasonKon Trans JV General contractor: JSC RZDstroy 9|Rail & Road Construction summit | 25/04/2013
