  12. Competitive Service • Must go through a competitive process (examining) • Written test, evaluation of education and experience, or evaluation of attributes necessary for successful job performance. • Category Rating • Jobs must be posted on-line • Veteran’s Preference does apply

  13. Excepted Service • Certain agencies, jobs or classification of jobs are exempt from competitive service hiring requirements • Jobs are not required to be posted on-line • Veteran’s preference DOES NOT apply unless stated otherwise
