This newsletter and future ones like it will contain important information concerning post-secondary planning, programs, careers, colleges, and scholarships! You are required to pick up a pass from the counseling office. HOPE INITIAL ELIGIBILITY and transcripts can be viewed through GAcollege411.1.Select “Your HOPE GPA” under the Shortcuts2.On next screen, enter last name, date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy) and SSN, then “Submit”3. Select the first letter of your high school name4. Select high school name. OCTOBER SENIOR CALENDAR • Explore college websites for admissions information (admission deadlines, tours, visitation dates, financial aid, scholarships). • Schedule a campus visit. • Check out SAT/ACT dates. Retake the tests if you need to. Scores must be sent directly to the colleges. • Prepare a resume/senior information sheet. • Meet application deadlines….once you have your SAT/ACT scores and you feel comfortable with where you are applying….get the applications completed and sent in…..colleges like online applications • Request transcripts and any other supporting documentation from the Counseling office • Aim for November of early December for getting applications sent…some schools may have earlier or later deadlines. • Begin thinking about teachers to write your letters of recommendations. • Research scholarship applications. • Procedure for Requesting a Transcript • Seniors requesting a transcript must get a request form from the counseling office. • There is a $3.00 fee for all transcripts. • If you are sending it to a GA public school the transcript can be sent electronically. • WFHS envelopes are available for mailing hard copies. These must be addressed and stamped (3stamps). • If a recommendation is required from your counselor, please include a resume or senior information sheet. • All paperwork must be given to Mrs. Stromie. • Please allow ten school days for processing requests. • Plan Accordingly! Official College Visits Seniors are allowed four days to visit prospective colleges. In order to take full advantage and for this absence to be considered excused a Pre-Excused College Visit form must be completed. You will be required to bring back documentation from your visit as well. Pick up the form in the counseling office. Georgia Two Year Public Schools If you are planning on attending a Public Two Year College. Please check individual school websites as to the requirements for SAT/ACT scores. These requirements are changing…….. STAY UP TO DATE WITH YOUR WFHS SENIOR ACTIVITIES................. Common Application If you are using the Common Application, please remember if you are submitting electronically, all supporting documentation must be submitted electronically as well.
