Exploring Pumpkins and Beyond: Kindergarten Weekly Update

This week, Kindergarten students delved into the world of pumpkins, reading both fiction and non-fiction literature. Next, they will learn about farming with the Little Red Hen and how wheat becomes flour. Math will focus on 3D shapes. Science will conclude the natural resources unit with a lesson on air. Social studies will introduce the concept of voting. Upcoming dates include Spirit Day on Nov 5th and Thanksgiving Break from Nov 22nd to 26th. Word Wall Words for review are "my," "by," and "all." Kindergarten Connection Friday, October 30, 2010 Kindergarten Connection Mrs. Gray Friday, September 2, 2005 Conference time: 2:15-3:00 Conference time: 10:30-11:00 This week we learned about pumpkins and how they grow. We read lots of fun pumpkin literature, both fiction and non-fiction. Next week we will complete our farm study by visiting with the Little Red Hen. We will learn how bread is made as we discuss the process wheat goes through from planting to flour. We will learn about 3 - D shapes in math and compare them to 2 – D shapes. We will wrap up our natural resources unit in science by learning about air and how it is useful.
