  2. Puritans Definition • A group of English Protestants of the late 16th and 17th centuries who believed that the Bible was God’s true law, and that it provided a plan for living. They attempted to “purify” the church and their own lives.

Witch Trials Reasons Behind Accusations Plaque at The Salem Witch Museum • Sickness, hallucinations, reactions most likely caused by mold on their crops • Extreme religious beliefs (and jealously) led to Witchcraft accusations • By late August in 1692, nineteen people and two dogs were convicted/hanged for witchcraft
