  • Name derived from Hebrew
  • In 1790 6th largest city in USA
  • Richest per capita
  • During the Industrial Revolution Salem became a manufacturing town
    • Tanneries and most notably Parker Brothers
  • Currently Salem is focusing on beginning its “Creative Economy”
