  1. WHO Indicator and Metadata Registry Getting started with v1.1 June, 2009

  2. IMR v1.1 new features • This presentation intends to quickly present how to perform main tasks in the IMR v1.1 to a user who is not familiar with its functionality. • It focuses on new v1.1 features; • It can be seen as a “quick” user guide • V 1.1 new features: • Multi-profile: • Ability to browse, search and view different indicator profiles; • Ability to edit profile metadata integrated with security; • Indicator sets: • Ability to group indicators into sets; • Browse, search by sets; • Security: • Restricted access to features based on login (e.g. access to administration or not) • Access to one or different profiles based on login • Guest read-only public view of the IMR • Note: security by indicator set not finished yet in v1.1 preview

  3. Access to the IMR v1.1 preview • The IMR v1.1 preview is hosted on b-i server at the following URL: • http://213.39.123.43/IMRSecured • Access to the secured version of the IMR. Logins are identical to WHO’s production version; • In addition, for testing multi-profiles, the following logins are also available (login = password): • PEPFARdemo user sees the PEPFAR profile only • UNAIDSdemo user sees the UNAIDS profile only • MULTIdemo user sees GHO, UNAIDS and PEFPAR profiles • http://213.39.123.43/IMRPublic • Access to the public guest version of the IMR • No login required • The database is a copy of the production IMR database. Feel free to test, but beware that 1) your changes have no consequence and 2) data entered will not be migrated back to WHO production database

  4. Browse indicators • List of browsable properties is configurable by profile • E.g. by “topic” for GHO, by “Technical Areas” for PEPFAR • In addition, “browse by set” is always available • Sets are created by the user via the “Manage Sets” page • Checkboxes + action menu allow to bulk-add to an indicator set

  5. Advanced search • List of search criteria is configurable by profile • E.g. by “topic” for GHO, by “Technical Area” for PEPFAR • In addition, the following other options • Search by indicator set • Show only common numerator or denominators • Action menu allows to: delete an indicator, add indicators to set

  6. Indicator create / edit • Indicators can be created via “Create Indicator” menu, or accessed for view/editing from browse or search result links • Single or multi-choice controls, flat or hierarchy, simple or rich text • Required fields are tagged with a red asterisk * • List of fields and their properties & ordering is totally configurable

  7. Percentage, numerator and denominator • Percentage, rate and ratio indicators have NUM and DENOM operands • Defining a % indicator with its operands automatically creates the numerator and denominator as separate indicators, linked to the % one • NUM and DENOM namesare lookup boxes.Uncheck the “show onlycommons” to searchall count indicators instead ofjust the ones marked “common” • In case NUM and DEN do not exist, new names & descriptions can beentered when % is created. • Once saved, “more details” link appearnext to NUM & DENOM. They navigate to the underlying count indicator definition screenonto which additional NUM & DENOMmetadata can be completed

  8. Indicator create / edit & multi-profile • A user has edit rights on one or more profiles. If access to more than one profile, the profile selector widget appears on the create indicator TAB: • It allows one to choose the profile to use to create the indicator • List of metadata fields, mandatory, etc.. .vary by profile • Once saved, the profile selector displays a “+” menu thatallows one to add a new profile to an existing indicator • Metadata properties inherited from another profileshow with the inheritance blue arrow • All properties can be overridden by profile (names, closed lists, …), which allows for example indicator name to differ for PEPAR and UNAIDS for the same indicator

  9. Indicator create / edit & security • Security is integrated with indicator edit rights by profile • A user with access to a single profile will not have the ability to select which profile to use for indicator creation • The display of existing indicators always shows all metadata for all profiles (for information purposes), but if the user does not have “Editor” rights for the profile, the save function is disabled: e.g. here the PEPFARdemo profile sees an indicator with GHO and UNAIDS metadata, but cannot edit it (save button is disabled) • Note: security by indicator set not finished yet in v1.1 preview. Once finished, it will allow to restrict view rights based on security groups. E.g. specific indicators sets could be hidden from view if required.

  10. Indicator set management • New v1.1 manage sets page allows to: • Create a hierarchy of user-defined indicator sets; • Associate a set with a security group, or mark it as public; • Navigate the set hierarchy and display indicators linked to them; • Bulk-move indicators from one set to another (via grid list menu); • Bulk-remove indicators from a set • To add indicators to a set, find it via the advanced search. The search grid list menu allows to add selected indicators to an existing set

  11. Security & administration • IMR v1.1 has 6 roles: • Guest: special built-in role linked to public guest functionality • Viewer: ability to view indicators by indicator set • Editor: ability to edit indicator definitions by profile and set • Expert: ability to change indicator status to final or public • Admin: manage home page contents, glossary of terms and reference tables for all profiles • SysAdmin: manage users, security by group and by indicator sets • Roles are assigned to security groups, users can belong to one ore more groups from which they obtain security rights • Screenshot below shows that “UNAIDS Editor” group is granted “Editor” and “Expert” roles for the “UNAIDS” profile. Users “UNAIDSdemo” and “whitakerp” belong to that group.

  12. Security & administration • Users have access to relevant IMR pages based on their rights: the left menu dynamically adapts. Likewise, a user has access to one or more profiles. E.g. • user “whitakerp”: user “hoj”: • Access to all profiles - GHO only • Is also Admin and SysAdmin - not admin

  13. Guest access to IMR • The guest has access to a restricted list of pages (home, browse, search) • A read-only view of the indicator is displayed • The guest profile is used for integration with who.int public web site
