Classroom Procedure In addition to what’s written in the welcome letter: • Raise your hand if you wish to speak. • Raise your hand if you wish to leave your seat. • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. • Keep on task. • This is a working classroom. I always do my best to teach you, and you should always do your best to learn. BACK

  5. SUMMER SCIENCE “CORNERS” • Around the classroom there are 10 signs. Each has a summer activity written on it. Each pair will have 90 seconds at each sign to do the following: • As a pair: • Read each sign. • Discuss how the activity is related to science. • Write a sentence relating the activity to science. (hint: you can also write a question). • Write NEATLY & LEGIBLY directly on the sign. Leave room for all groups. • Write your first names under your sentence. Example for the Beach Statement: The beach provides habitat for sea life like crabs and clams. Question: “Why do the tides go in and out every day?”

  6. SUPER SCIENTISTS THINK – PAIR- SHARE • Working independently, THINK of as many kinds of scientists as you can. (hint: many end in “ologist,” as in, biologist) • PAIR: Working with a partner, compare and combine lists. Count how many total you come up with. • Complete the “Super Scientist” Worksheet. • SHARE with the class how many you came up with that were on the “Super Scientist” worksheet. BACK
