  1. Post Test • What is this red button used for? • To stop an infusion. • To stop any infusion in progress. • To stop any infusion in progress in emergency situations. • To put the infuser in standby mode. • What does this icon mean? • Delivering above the upper hard limit. • Delivering below the upper hard limit. • Delivering above the upper soft limit. • Delivering above the lower hard limit. • What does this icon mean? • The programmed therapy is a bolus. • The programmed therapy is a piggyback infusion. • The programmed therapy is a syringe delivery. • The programmed therapy is a basic infusion.

  2. Post Test • What is the procedure for loading the cassette in the carriage? • Grasp the tubing above the cassette with one hand and below the cassette with the other hand, with the purple collar positioned at the top of the cassette carriage and the flowstop facing inwards toward the infuser. • Grasp the tubing above the cassette with one hand and below the cassette with the other hand, with the purple collar positioned at the bottom of the cassette carriage and the flowstop facing the carriage door. • Grasp the tubing above the cassette with one hand and below the cassette with the other hand, with the purple collar positioned at the bottom of the cassette carriage and the back of the flowstop facing the carriage door. • Grasp the tubing above the cassette with one hand and below the cassette with the other hand, with the purple collar positioned at the top of the cassette carriage and the flowstop facing towards the carriage door.

  3. Post Test • At completion of programming, a confirmation screen displays to: • Allow verification of programmed values. • Help spot potential programming errors within the limits set for the drug. • Increase infusion safety. • All of the above • How can I transition from the Near View screen to the Far View screen? • Nothing, after 20 seconds, the display transitions automatically to Far View. • Touch the screen in Near View display. • A and B. • None of the above. • When entering the VTBI and the time, the rate is automatically calculated. However, a change to time will automatically recalculate VTBI. • True • False

  4. Post Test • What should I do if the name of the drug to be infused is not in the drug list? • Nothing, some day it will be added to the list. • Review NYGH Infusion Pump Policy (2012) regarding using “Other drug” Option and inform pharmacy via electronic/paper reporting tool. • Ask colleagues if they encountered this type of event before. • When the lower soft limit is exceeded: • The infuser will not accept the rate or dose value you entered. • The infuser will accept the rate or dose value you entered, but validation is required. • The rate or dose value entered is higher than the normal value recommended. • The rate or dose value entered is lower than the normal value recommended. • B and D • I must review the Clinical Care Area (CCA) on the pump and change if it does not correspond to the location of the patient? • True • False

  5. Post Test • I must always read the confirmation screen prior to beginning my infusion or titration? • True • False • What should I do if the touchscreen drifts while entering a program (unable to enter data)? • Continue trying to program • Continue programming and check confirmation screen • The smart pump knows what I want and will correct • Remove pump from service and send to bio-med • The pump has alarmed “End of Infusion” and reverted to KVO rate. I push NEXT, then START Titration very quickly and the screen on the pump turns white, I would: • Remove the set by using the Emergency Release and send pump to bio-med • Turn pump off and On and try to re-program • Ask Super User for help

  6. Post Test • To prevent a white screen I must do the following: • Confirm that the correct programming information appears on the confirmation screen before proceeding with an infusion • Ensure that VTBI and Time fields have a non-zero value when programming the infusion • Refrain from pressing NEXT button during programming until VTBI and/or Time values are set • All of the above • None of the above
