  1. Feature Story Multi Media Component Photo Essays Aubrey Petrone

  2. Here is a picture of a family trip to we took to Disney in 2008. My mom was cancer-free at this time but is still wearing a wig since her hair had not fully grown back from the chemo. This trip was one of my most memorable ones. A guy that worked at Disney asked if we wanted a family picture taken and told us, “Give me your best Hollywood pose!” and of course my mom was the only one to play along giving him a very serious look trying not to laugh in the process.

  3. My next picture is of my sister’s tattoo she got the day she turned 18. It reads the word HOPE with a pink breast cancer symbol as the “P.” Although my family has never been a fan of tattoos my dad agreed to take my sister to get this one so she could surprise my mom. My sister chose the word hope because my mom, and the rest of my family, never lost hope that my mom would be a survivor.

  4. This picture was taken only a week ago, it is of the 10 inches I cut off my hair and donated to locks of love. Writing this feature story on my mom actually gave me this idea. Since my mom is a hairdresser, when I went home for Easter break I told her I wanted to donate my hair. Of course, she didn’t believe me since I have had long hair since middle school. But when I actually went through with it she was shocked, but very proud. I assured her that some girl with cancer and in need of a wig will be more grateful for my hair than I was.

  5. This last picture I wanted to add is of my mom, my grandma, my sister and me on Easter. My grandma also battled cancer in between the two times that my mom was diagnosed with it. This picture is special to me, one, because both my mom and grandma hate taking pictures and this was a rare occasion where they both allowed us to take one with them. And two, because it contains two of the strongest people I know in it.
