  3. Reporting Direct Instructional Effort

If the class is less than 100 – no adjustment If the class is between 100 and 199 – maximum effort for 3 credits is 0.37 If the class is more than 199 – maximum effort for 3 credits is 0.5 and three additional contact hours must be assigned to the class Reporting Direct Instructional Effort Class Size Adjustments

  5. Reporting Direct Instructional Effort Non-classroom Instruction Total Effort cannot exceed 100% these values may need to be adjusted proportionately to keep within that maximum.

For research that is not externally funded and is not reported as separately budgeted cost-sharing on externally funded research, no more than 0.1 FTE can be assigned to research activities All remaining effort should be spent on other instructional effort, advising, public service, etc. Reporting Non-Instructional Effort

  11. Cancelled classes must be removed by the end of the third week of the term or they will be loaded into the I&R files and create massive edits Every class must be assigned a primary instructor of record. Must be done before the end of the third week Recommended Practices

Every GTA must be assigned to specific class section(s) either as Primary Instructor or Course Assistant A faculty member receives full credit (e.g., .25 FTE for 3-credit course) and in addition every GTA assigned to that course receives 33% or 50% or appropriate percent effort for being a Course Assistant Recommended Practices

Individual students must be assigned to the faculty member actually supervising them – no more assignment of internships, directed study, etc. to one department chair or coordinator Pay keys need to be assigned by units for all faculty activities involving multiple funding sources Recommended Practices
