Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. Hebrews 10:17-20

  22. Losing Sight of Hope Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. Heb.10:32-39

  28. Losing Sight of Hope • ‘For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay.’ This used to be their ‘hope’ ! They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." Acts 1:11 • …and it’s still true! Heb.10:32-39

  29. Losing Sight of Hope • ‘For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay.’ • ‘But my righteous one shall live by faith; And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.’ Don’t lose focus: ‘living by faith’ Heb.10:32-39

The Slide into O.C.S. • Time Passes (30 years later…) • Older, wiser, not ‘young and naïve’ • Competent, ‘responsible members of society’ • Absorbed by their culture (compromised!) • Good, well-meaning Christians • Obsessed with ‘Do the right thing!’ “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24
