  • Meerkat means mongoose in a certain language called Afrikaans.
  • The scientific name for meerkats is Suricata Suricatta.
  • Some people call meerkats Suricates.

  • They also have four toes on each paw and each one is curved.
  • Meerkats have long black noses and a long tail with a black tip.
  • They have black rings around their eyes that act like sunglasses.
