  5. 1 DIFFERENT DWELLINGS Bats can be found in many different habitats. They live in jungles, dry areas and even in inhabited areas. Bats are nocturnal animals and during the day they roost in different places. They hang from cave walls or hide in crevices. They can also be found in forests, hanging from the branches of trees. You can also find bats in abandoned houses. Other bats like to roost in hollow trees. Most bats live in groups. Some of these groups are very large. There is a cave in America that is the home to over 20 million bats ! Only a few species live on their own. These bats are called solitary bats. The males and females of some species live separately and only come together to mate. Other bats form mixed colonies and live together for most of the year. Key Words
