Workshop on Enhancement of Piped Water Supply Coverage Target 400,000 New Water Connections - Year 2014/March 2015 Strategies Adopted for Implementation B.W.R. Balasuriya General Manager • 14th July 2014
Work To Be Done • Data collection for design of pipe lines - Surveying , Length of pipe lines, Number of families, etc • Preparation of key plan • Preparation of Longitudinal Sections or as build drawings • Preparation BOQ and Tender Documents suit to C2 and C3 Contracts • Pipe Laying , provide water connections and absorb to the billing system
Strategies To Be Adopted And Implementation Mechanism • Fixing of overall responsibility and monitoring of the project • Respective RSC DGM is responsible and requested to appoint team of Engineers to implement the project in each RSC • Identify excess water capacities in the water supply scheme New/existing • Expand distribution system with in fills • Design work - Procedure to expedite surveying to be decided , obtaining pipe length, counting number of families and Preparation of model • Design work coordination – Head office Design branch Action by DGM(P&D)
Strategies To Be Adopted And Implementation Mechanism (contd..) • Tender document to be prepared for pipe laying and laying of service connection up to water meter to keep provision for the new connections simultaneously • Required logistic facilities to be obtained through the contracts , Purchas of new vehicles, renting of office facilities, Supervisory staff • Contract supervision and implementation by RSCC • Separate contract to be called for water meters , lockable valve and brass ferrules • Proper mechanism to be developed to absorb to billing system
