Exploring RC Helicopters vs. Cars: Pros, Cons, and Project Decision

DESCRIPTION

In this project by Syed Abdul Samad, I compare remote control (RC) helicopters and cars to determine which to build for my ICT project. I highlight the pros and cons of each, detailing how helicopters can fly vertically, are quiet, and can reach high places, but have limited flight time and less excitement. Conversely, RC cars are easier to handle and safer but are less challenging and struggle on rough terrains. After careful consideration, I choose to build a helicopter for the challenge it presents.

  1. My ICT project By Syed Abdul Samad 7BB

  2. My 2 Project Ideas My first idea was to build a remote control car, but soon afterwards I thought about building a helicopter. I was confused between whether to do a helicopter or a car. This is why I would like to research further on these 2 topics.

  3. Pros And Cons RC helicopter: Pros: • It can take of vertically • It is easy to fly • It doesn’t make lots of noise • It can be used indoors and outdoors • It doesn’t pollute the air • It can help you see things that are difficult to reach Cons: • It is less exiting than petrol powered helicopters • The flying time is limited. With the petrol powered helicopter, you can fly it till the petrol runs out which takes much longer. • You can’t upgrade the engine. With the other type you can play around with the engine to enable more tricks.

  4. Pros and Cons(Continued) RC car: Pros: • Uses less battery than a RC Helicopter • Is much more safer than a helicopter • Easier to handle than a helicopter • Less accuracy needed to drive it Cons: • Not that challenging to drive • Cannot drive on rough terrains • Cannot remain stationary on water (helicopters can land on water) • travels at a less speed

  5. Materials needed Materials needed for a RC Helicopter: Materials for a remote control car: .Motor.Chain.Aluminum.Transmitter.Receiver.Some kind of suspension.Hydraulics .Wheels .Remote control system  Circuit board hardwood holder White plastic tube Measuring tube Gear Motor Screws Epoxy adhesive Carbon rods Drill Instant glue Balsa 1 ball bearing 1 plastic spacer Aluminum ball Aluminum ring Steel bar Propellers Metal ball Metal rob Tail blades Blade holder Balsa blades

  6. My Decision I would like to build a helicopter for the simple reason that it is more challenging and I think that I will be able to gain more marks by creating this. I would have added a camera but another group has already claimed it.
