  3. A Bit About MrFedley • Where do I come from? Melbourne – Australia • Favorite Hobbies: Home Cinema (Movies), Basketball, AFL, Table Tennis, and Geology (Rocks). • Siblings? One older but very annoying sister.

  4. My Last School? • I taught at I-Shou International School in Kaohsiung – Taiwan. • The subjects I taught was Grade 7 & 8 MYP Science, along with Grade 8 Tutor Group and English Standard B.

  5. My School in Australia: Keysborough Secondary College – Coomoora Campus. • Most of my students moved from Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Sudan with their families to live in Australia. • Pet Annoyances: People not listening, being beaten in sport.

Grade 9 Chemistry – Topics • So what will we learn in Science this trimester? • Particulate Nature of Matter • Experimental Techniques • The Periodic Table • Atoms Elements Compounds • The Mole • Please note these may change.   7. How Do We Get Marked?? • In Grade 10, you are marked through a Multiple Choice Test (30%) of 45 questions • You them complete a Test of Short Answer and Structured questions (50%) • The remaining 20% is through Coursework or a Practical Test. http://igcse-specialist.blogspot.com/

  8. SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT!! GOOD BEHAVIOUR = MORE EXPERIMENTS

Basic Class Rules • No talking while someone is talking to the class (this includes the teacher or other students) • We only move around the class with a valid reason (not for the sake of it) or during an experiment • Eating or Drinking in class is a big no-no (*) • When someone is talking, we listen to them • During an experiment, we follow the teachers instructions if they tell us to sit down. • We have fun!

  10. Booklets • We will now be making small booklets. Once the booklets are made, we need to complete the work below on the following pages: • Page 1: Grade 9 Chem–TrimeterOne (Heading) • Page 2 & 3: Tell me some things about yourself. Do you have any brothers/sisters, favourite movie, favourite sport, what you find annoying etc. • Page 4 & 5: Tell me what you enjoyed and did not enjoy about Grade 8 Science. • Page 6 & 7: What would you like to do/learn about in Grade9 Chem • Page 8: What are you going to try harder to do in Science this year?

Our Wiki • Go to the following wiki: • http://yis9chem.wikispaces.com • Then join wikispaces and then join the wiki using your YIS email address. • There is not much on the wiki at the moment, but it will include most handouts and PPT’s along with it being an area for general information • There is a discussion area. Please ask questions here and also answer questions for people who need help!!!

  12. Periodic Table Worksheet • Go to the wiki – http://yis9chem.wikispaces.com and download the worksheet called Periodic Table Worksheet 1 • Complete the worksheet, using your textbook (P266/267 is most useful) and the internet if needed.
