  1. Team Members: Steve Normington - Virgin Kristin Snipes - Delta Ron Wong - Northwest Andy Coles - Virgin Lutz Lotter - Airbus Kevin Dorrian - Labinal George Stevenson - IEC Tom Chapman - United Bob Bannerman - Virgin Lars Kroplin - Luthansa Team Members: Uwe Salzer - Recaro Patrick Brannelly - Emirates Shunji Kuranami - Koito Louise Chan - Cathay Pacific Charlie Hutchens - US Airways Peter Hurley - RCPS Mary Beth Pinchard - Delta Kim Pastega - Boeing Philippe Bisoffi - Sogerma Mike Chowney - MBM February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Team: Design Development Integration Process Between Seatsand IFE/Electronics Equipment Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  2. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Team: Design Development Integration Process Between Seatsand IFE/Electronics Equipment Problem: The current process doesn’t deliver an integrated seatsystem solution that airlines consider elegant, good quality, timely, maintainable, and reasonably priced. • Resolution: • Develop a “best practices” process document (WAEA TC to coordinate) • Recommend that Seat Suppliers get involved with creation of standards throughARINC 628 Part 2 and 5 Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  3. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Implementation Plan: Within two months, hold two day WAEA Sponsored forum to: 1). Develop “top 10” issues resolutions list for Seat/IFE process integration (What can be fixed immediately?) 2). Document and publish “Top 10 Integration Process IssuesResolutions” through WAEA (Publish within one month of mtg) 3). Develop long term plan for “Best Practices” processbenchmarking other complex system integration models Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  4. Improvement activities to define: Stakeholders Objectives Roles/Responsibilities Issue Resolution Schedule Management February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Implementation Plan: Process integration to consider improvement activities for key milestones of the Seat System (Seat and IFE/Electronic Equipment) such as: Today Dynamic Test Plan Dynamic Testing FAI BOM PDR FSC ITCM Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  5. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Action Plan (Next Steps): Team Focals: Lutz Lotter- OEM; Ron Hurley - IFE Supplier Ron Wong - Airline; Phillipe Bisoffi - Seat Supplier 1). Document initial plan and background information and email to team(Kim Pastega) 2). Develop email list for subcommittee and include communication team(Ron Wong) 3). Coordinate with WAEA and set up 2 day meeting and agenda (Lutz Lotter, Peter Hurley, Kevin Woodward) Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  6. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration • Background Information: • I’m here today to: • Better package and drive efficiency into seat/IFE/Electronic system  • Define interface for Seat/IFE/Electronic system • Understand how IFE/Electronics fit into seat development - coordination of development programs  • Determine how to achieve Seat System (Integrated IFE/Electronic designelegance) • Seat manufacturer needs more detail in ARINC 628 to accommodate in seatdesign • Determine how far systems can be integrated (e.g. single power supply) • Determine how to define airline requirements in early stage in order to integrate into design Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  7. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration • Background Information: • I’m here today to: (Part 2): • Define process for predictable Seat/IFE/Electronic integration (predictableoutcome)  • Ensure reliability • Anticipate future needs of IFE components • Understand what airlines, OEM’s, and seat vendors desire in future systemsand raise awareness of current systems • Explore expansion of high speed digital data systems - how to integrate • Address problems of over population under seat - get out of seat • Reach optimum design • Come up with process for airline to define what they want Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  8. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration • Background Information: • I’m here today to: (Part 3): • Go away from different systems to one seat system • Define who is responsible for integration itself • Better manage integration of system - seat/IFE/Electronic • How do we get all airlines to know how to spec system? Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  9. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Background Brainstorm Information: Design Elegance: 1). Process to better define airline requirements up front: - Components - “Elegance”/Passenger Appeal - Weight . . 2). Design Development/Functionality - integrate throughout Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  10. FAI/ Compliance Review Today Dynamic Test Plan Dynamic Testing BOM PDR FSC ITCM February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Background Brainstorm Information: Issues: 1). Commitments are first understood/validated at ITCM 2). Schedules/plans may be impacted 3). System first Comes together at FAI 4). No one has overall system integration responsibility for vendors Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  11. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Background Brainstorm Information: Resolutions: 1). Need clearer requirement definition early 2). Look outside airline industry for integration techniques 3). Clearly define responsibility for system integrator (and all roles/responsibilities 4). Electronic component industry needs to reduce overall envelope 5). Enhance relationships between IFE/Electronics/Seating industries 6). Best practices- Definition, ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI 7). Integrate compatibility of development schedules Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com

  12. February 17 - 18th WAEA WorkshopSeat/IFE Integration Parking Lot: 1). Design seat system from ground up 2). Weight issues 3). Power issues Kimberly Pastega email: kimberly.s.pastega@boeing.com
