  2. Purpose of Monitoring • Ensure standardized testing across the district • Administer tests in a secure manner • Preserve the integrity of the tests • Safeguard the validity of the test results for schools and students

  3. Pre-Monitoring and Test Session Monitoring Schedule *Computer-based assessments only: FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake, FCAT Mathematics Retake, FCAT 2.0 Reading (Grades 6, 7, 9 and 10), FCAT 2.0 Mathematics (Grade 5), and all EOC Assessments.

  4. Stanford Achievement Test - Tenth Edition (SAT-10) • All Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students will test • Subtests to be administered: • SAT-10 Untimed

Administering the SAT-10 • Sentence Reading (K): Partially dictated to students • Reading Comprehension (1 and 2): Students must work independently. • Mathematics (K) and Mathematics: Problem Solving (1 and 2): • Questions will be dictated to students • District paper rulers should be provided as follows:

Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT/FCAT 2.0) • Students will participate in the following assessments: • FCAT 2.0 Writing • Grades 4, 8, 10 • FCAT 2.0 Reading • Grades 3 – 10 • Grades 6, 7, 9 and 10 are CBT Only; paper-based versions available for students with documented accommodations only • FCAT 2.0 Mathematics • Grades 3 – 8 • Grade 5 is CBT Only; paper-based versions available for students with documented accommodations only • No comprehensive Mathematics assessment for Grades 9 and 10 • FCAT 2.0 Science • Grades 5 and 8 • No comprehensive Science assessment for Grade 11 • FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake and/or FCAT Mathematics Retake • Retained Grade 10 and Grades 11-AD • FCAT 2.0 Retake Reading and FCAT Retake Mathematics are CBT Only; paper-based versions available for students with documented accommodations only

Updates: FCAT 2.0 Writing • The Spring FCAT 2.0 Writing Test is now 60 minutes long • There is only ONE day for make-up tests • Writing Folders are secure materials and have security numbers • Writing prompt is printed on the Writing Folder • Packages of Writing Folders may be opened three (3) days before testing, but NO EARLIER

Updates: FCAT/FCAT 2.0 Retakes • FCAT/FCAT 2.0 Reading and Mathematics Retake • Reading 2.0 Retake will be administered as two separate sessions, one session per day; students may have up to half the length of a typical school day to complete the test. • Mathematics Retake will be administered as one session; students may have up to the length of a typical school day to complete the test but must complete the test in one day. • Paper accommodations for Reading 2.0 and Mathematics Retakes must be administered on Days 1 -2, with make-up testing administered through Day 5, as needed. • CBT administrations may be scheduled Days 1-10. • Note: Packages of secure materials with security numbers may be opened three (3) days before testing, but NO EARLIER

Updates: FCAT/FCAT 2.0 Reading, Mathematics, and Science • FCAT 2.0 Reading • Grades 3 – 10 will be administered as two separate sessions, one session per day • Grade 6, 7, 9 and 10 will be Computer-based tests only • Grades 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 testing must be completed by April 24 • Grades 6 and 9 must be completed by April 30 • FCAT 2.0 Mathematics • Grades 3 - 5 will be administered as two separate sessions, one session per day • Grade 6 - 8 will be administered as two separate sessions on the same day • Grade 5 will be a Computer-based test only • Grades 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 testing must be completed by April 24 • Grade 5 testing must be completed by April 30 • FCAT 2.0 Science • All Elementary, K-8 Centers, and Middle Schools will test Science on week ONE of the testing window • Note: Packages of secure materials with security numbers may be opened five (5) days before testing, but NO EARLIER

Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments • Grades 6 – 12 students enrolled in the following courses will participate in the EOC assessments: • Biology 1 • Algebra 1 • Geometry • Grades 9 – 12 students enrolled in the following courses will participate in the EOC assessments: • US History • Note that each subject EOC will be administered within a five (5) day testing window; with the exception of the US History EOC which will be administered in a three (3) day testing window. • All EOC Assessments are CBT only; paper-based versions are available for students with documented accommodations only • Each assessments will be given in one 160-minute session with a 10 minute break after the first 80 minutes. Students may not be dismissed after the first 80 minutes; however, after the 10 minute break, they may be dismissed as they complete the test. • Any student not finished by the end of the 160 minutes may continue working. Testing must be completed within the same school day.

Monitoring Procedures • Pre-monitoring procedures • Check for proper documentation • Test Materials Chain of Custody • District Level Certification Form (if applicable) • Administration Record/Security Checklist • Seating Charts • All secured materials are accounted for • Limited access to storage room

  13. Monitoring Procedures, cont. • Test Session Monitoring • Randomly select a classroom to observe • Plan to remain in the test session for the full allotted time • Some students are allowed extended time. Be in place when testing begins, then exit unobtrusively after testing is well underway.

  14. Monitoring Procedures, cont. • Monitoring After Scheduled Test Sessions • Observe make-up sessions • Packing of test materials • Limited access to storage room

What To Observe: Preparations • Preparations for the Assessment • Visual cues must be covered or removed • Signs are posted (e.g., Please Do Not Disturb) • Sufficient space between students • Student/test administrator ratio • Paper-based test (1:30) • Computer-based test (1:25) • Roster of students assigned to the room

What To Observe: Paper-Based Testing • During the Assessment (paper-based test) • All testing signs are posted. • Test materials must be handed to students individually. • Documentation of security numbers assigned to students. • A record of attendance is maintained. • Test materials for absent students are kept in a secure area in the room. • Appropriate testing environment is maintained.

What To Observe: Computer-Based Testing (CBT) • During the Assessment (computer-based testing) • Visual-barriers are installed. • Sufficient work space for CBT Worksheets, CBT Work Folders, and Reading Passage Booklets. • Student Authorization Tickets, Seal Codes, and test materials must be handed to students individually. • A record of attendance is maintained. • Tickets and test materials for absent students are kept in a secure area in the room. • Appropriate testing environment is maintained.

What To Observe: General • During the Assessment • The test schedule is followed with the allotted time. • The starting and ending times are displayed on the board. • Electronic devices are not within arm’s reach. • Script is read verbatim. • Test administrators and proctors actively monitor testing.

What To Observe: Conclusion • Concluding the Assessment • Test materials are collected individually from students. • Students are not permitted to leave until all materials are collected and verified. • Test materials and documentation are immediately returned to the school assessment coordinator.

  20. Reporting Irregularities • Any concern regarding a testing irregularity, breach of test security, or problem with secure testing materials must be reported immediately toStudent Assessment and Educational Testing (SAET) at 305-995-7520. • You should NOT “debrief” with school staff.
