  1. Balaam Still Lives Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah (Jude 11).

  2. Balaam: Synonym of Greed • They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet (2 Pet. 2:15-16).

  3. God’s Will Is Plain • “Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.” And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” So Balaam rose in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, “Go back to your land, for the LORD has refused to give me permission to go with you” (Num. 22:11-13). • Repeated it – obviously understood it!

  4. Balak’s Mistake Thought the power to curse or bless existed in the prophet! 14And the princes of Moab rose and went to Balak, and said, “Balaam refuses to come with us.” 15Then Balak again sent princes, more numerous and more honorable than they. 16And they came to Balaam and said to him, “Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: ‘Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me; 17for I will certainly honor you greatly, and I will do whatever you say to me. Therefore please come, curse this people for me’” (Num. 22).

  5. Balaks Alive Today Also • Pressure Pope to make new laws or repeal old ones. • Vote on “church doctrines” in conventions. • Women priests • Homosexuality • Ask preacher(s) for his blessing on some situation. • Power or Authority is in the Word of God, NOT Man!

  6. Balaam’s True Colors 18Then Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, “Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. 19Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the LORD will say to me” (Num. 22).

  7. “What More Will the Lord Say?” • Attitude of those wanting to justify what they already believe or want to believe. • Balak wanted more and so did Balaam. • What MORE does the Lord say? Infant Baptism Instrumental Music Social Drinking Modest Dress Divorce/Remarriage Social Gospel
