  1. Literary Project

  2. Learning Goals I can speak with good prosody. I can evaluate others for good prosody. I can stand up in front of a class and give a speech. I can select a piece of literature that is appealing to me and fits the 3-5 minute time criteria. I can do all of the above with 85% accuracy.

  3. Step 1 • I can select a piece of literature that is appealing to me and fits the 3-5 minute time criteria. • You should read several pieces before you decide. • Options you have: • A short story • A famous speech • An excerpt from a book. • A poem • Etc.

  4. Step 2 Mark it up! Underline things, highlight things put pause marks (//) in for emphasis. Giving yourself a visual cue to stop or slow down is very important.

  5. Step 3 Practice Read through this to yourself a few times and then read it out loud to someone else, just for practice. Take their feedback, practice one more time and then ask Ms. Hanson or Ms. Bos when you can give your speech to the class.

  6. Step 4 Give your speech with good prosody 
