  1. Sirens by: Sarah King In Greek mythology there were unique creatures, known as sirens, which lived on the island of Faiakes. Pisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepi, were the most heard of sirens in the mythology. They were the daughters of the River God, Achelous. They failed to save Persephone from being kidnapped by Hades. Her mother, Demeter, the goddess of harvest and fertility turned Pisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepi into a bird with the head of a human for not saving her daughter. They prayed to the gods for wings which they did receive. The sirens play beautiful music to attract sailors. When the sailors hear there music they sail their boats to them. If they don’t hit the rocks and crash the boat they will be stuck on the island for eternity (until death). The music consisted of singing, the flute, and the lyre. Also, the sirens were influenced by there mother.
