  1. In-house Seminar organized by Hong Kong Bioethics Association Distributive Justice and Health Care Allocation 16 August 2013 6:30 p.m. Panel Speakers: Dr Chan Ho Mun Dr. Wong Ching Wa Dr. Thomas Ming Enquiries & Registration Venue Room PQ413 The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Dr Amy HO Phone: 2766 5790 Email: sspyho@polyu.edu.hk How can social resources including healthcare resource be justly distributed?   The topic of ‘distributive justice’ has long been a controversial one, not only for politicians but also for philosophers. Notwithstanding Aristotle’s interesting remark that ‘equals must be treated equally; and unequals must be treated unequally’, there is very little agreement over the right criteria by which social resources are justly distributed.  In this seminar, we will briefly discuss how the concept of justice affects our judgment over the government’s provision of healthcare services for the public, as well as the problem of inter-generation justice in Hong Kong’s healthcare situation.  A prominent philosophical approach to healthcare policy as suggested by the philosopher John Rawls will be introduced. Talk in Cantonese. All are welcome Light refreshment will be provided PLEASE REGISTER BY AUGUST 12
