  1. MHMS Computer Orientation

  2. Welcome to the MHMS Network Server! Are you Ready to Login?

  3. WAIT! We have a few important things to go over first, ….because if you mess it up you will NEVER get in. EVER. (ok, maybe not ever)

  4. HCPSS Responsible Use Policy or RUP • All Middle School Students and their parents must sign the Responsible Use Agreement Form or RUP • Did return yours to your homeroom teacher? • Good! If not, Bring it in ASAP!

  5. Using a technology or a computer in school is a privilegeand not a right. If you violate the HCPSS RUP you could lose your computer privilegesfor part of, or the ENTIRE, SCHOOL year. Consequences

  6. All school work that would have been done on a computer in school, will have to be done by hand in or out of school. Basically, make good choices or you will have to work pen & paper old school style! Consequences

  7. This includes messing with, or changing the Computer Screen, Background, or System Preference Settings. Do Not Do This. Consequences

  8. Ok, are you ready to login? Try & Use the SAME Username & Password as last year! Need a Reminder?

  9. Your login username is: Your first initial 5 letters of your last name and the last 4 digits of your school ID # ex: gjones3826 Remember this login as it will be your login ID throughout Middle & High School (or until they change it yet again! LOL)

  10. If your password from last year goes through – YAY! But if you are asked to reset, stop & hold on! We have a…NEW YummyPassword Matrix7th & 8th Graders Hint:Burger Pizza Taco Sushi

  11. After you put in your name (loginID) & last year’s password it may “think” about it for like 45 seconds… Be PATIENT! WAIT….it’s talking to the server for the first time this year.

  12. If it “shakes” at you Try it again thinking hard what it was last year & maybe trying a different combo. If it STILL doesn’t work Don’t worry, we can re-set it.

  13. Your Name If you get this STOP & wait for directions.

  14. If you see a Home Sync pop-up screen, keep selecting “Cancel” until a new window appears

  15. Select Create New Keychain button in the middle. Very Important!

  16. Open your agenda book & find your birthday page Write down your login & password …NOW Keep your password secret! Don’t Tweet it out or tell your friends.

  17. Teachers: If the login doesn’t work please Double check the username & student ID number combo on the login sheet & try the temp password listed there Then please try it yourself. If that doesn’t work then reset the temporary password Using the direction sheet On the MHMS Tech Wiki

  18. Always use spell check & THEN ask permission before printing (Think Green!) • Please leave the room better than you found it - Push in chairs & straighten computer & keyboard • Teachers – Please Erase the Board Pretty Obvious But Important Tech Rules of the Road

  19. Your NETWORK FOLDER is BLUE and on the DOCK with your login name. Find it!

  20. First SAVE your files to the computer’s DESKTOP

  21. At the end of the class, DRAGyour new files to your blue network folder

  22. Your files will NOT SAVE on the network unless you DRAG them to your network folder

  23. To check that you did it right, open your network folder & look for your file.

  24. Last but VERY important step: DRAG the desktop file into theTRASH. You don’t want 2 versions active that could get messed up.

  25. At home,Google:MHMS Learning, for our Wiki! Visit our Wiki for Homework & Tech Help!
