  2. Welcome to the NEW! eMac Lab and MHMS Server! Are you Ready to Login?

  3. But WAIT! Please Do NOT…do ANYthing Until after you Watch and Listen to the directions….because if you mess it up… you won’t get in.

  4. NO EMAIL of any kind may be checked or looked at in this school. That means: • Yahoo! Gmail, Hotmail, etc. • No Personal BLOGGING w/out permission • NO Social Networking: Facebook, Twitter, Plurk Xanga, Blogger, or MySpace, Friendster, ....EVER! • No FREE GOOGLE Web or Image searching -- Use our Databases! A Few More Warnings!

  5. Aww, c’mon…Why No Google? Time + Academic & Appropriate = Not Reliable We don’t have time to look through 30 million hits and they’re not all academic or appropriate.

  6. Our Databases are FASTER & more Reliable! (and appropriate) Fewer Hits but Better Hits….All in one place! Reference, Magazine, Academic, & News Articles…AND Multimedia!

No Food or Drinks in the eMac Lab • Report Problems Promptly • Always use spell check and print preview, and THEN ask permission before printing. • Always go to FILE>PRINT rather than the printer icon so that you can check that the RIGHT printer is selected: eMAC lab printer is: (10.1.10.42) • Always wait for instructions. • Always follow correct procedure. • Leave the room better than you found it. • Always Log Out> Apple> logout your name eMac Lab Rules

  8. Using a Computer in school is a privilege and not a right. If you violate the HCPSS Acceptable Computer Use Policy and Agreement you will lose your computer privileges for the ENTIRE SCHOOL year and have a meeting with Mr. Dickey, your classroom teacher, and MHMS technology leader & Media Specialist Ms. Jones. All work that otherwise would have been done on a computer IN school will have to be done by hand or out of school.Old School Style! Consequences

  9. NOW….Sign the document that says: Expectations for Computer Usage Guidelines for Middle School Students And pass it into your teacher… Ok, NOW! We’re Ready! :-) YAY! Sign It, or Else!

  11. Your login is: gradyearfirstinitiallastname ex: 10gjones Your password is: birthdate ex: 09/26/97 Slashes are important! Use ZEROS and not “O’s” Use the numbers ABOVE the keyboard and NOT on the side of the keyboard.

  12. STUDENTS!BIGNETWORK CHANGES!

  13. OTHERWISE KNOWN AS ...WHERE & HowDo I Save?

  14. Your real NETWORK FOLDER is BLUE and in the DOCK. Find it!

  15. From now on, you will need to MANUALLY save your files to YOUR NETWORK FOLDER

  16. First SAVE your files to the computer’s DESKTOP

  17. At the end of the class, DRAGyour new files to your network folder

  18. Your files will NOT SAVE on the network unless you DRAG them to your network folder

  19. If you switch computers, retrieve your files from your network folder

  20. Now…try and login After you put in your name & password it will go BLANK and “think” about it for like 45 seconds… Be PATIENT! WAIT….it’s talking to the server for the first time this year.

  21. Good Job!Remember your Loginand Birthday Password! Do NOT share it with your friends!And……….

  24. Students with duplicate names will be issued logins with: first initial middle initial last name Ex: gajones Third duplicate will be first name middle initial last name Ex: gwynethajones Passwords will be the student’s birthdate which is an eight character login. xx/xx/xx

  25. Hyphenated names are first initial hyphenated name smooshed together firstinitalhypehnatedname Ex: ejeanlouis Passwords will be the student’s birthdate which is an eight character login. xx/xx/xx

  26. Middle School Student Guest Accounts • Each Middle School has a set of guest student accounts. • The accounts are numbered • (s0001 – s0040) • The account password is the same as the login number • Example – student guest account s0004 – login s0004 password s0004 If all Else Fails: Teachers, please Email Ms. Gwyneth Jones the name and graduation date of the malfunctioning student and their birthday and then try this:
