  1. How to Become an English Literature Lecturer

  2. An English literature Lecturer must teach English language and related subjects at colleges and institutes. An English lecturer also required to publish articles and write books about the literature. If you have good communication quality, then it is a plus point for you that will lead you to become a successful lecturer.

  3. To know about the complete process of becoming an English Literature Lecturer, you have to follow some steps which we have provided in the next slides.

  4. Step 1 - Complete Undergraduate Degree in English Literature This will be the first step towards becoming a lecturer. After completing higher education, you should register for undergraduate degree in English Literature. Pursuing graduation in this subject will lead you to clear basics on English Literature that will make a strong base of knowledge.

  5. Step 2 – Apply for Postgraduation in English Literature To become a Lecturer in English Literature or any other subject, it is compulsory to have a master’s degree. Once you complete the undergraduate degree, enroll for the postgraduation course in the same subject.

  6. Step 3 – Appear in the Lectureship Eligibility Test After completing the postgraduation, you will be eligible to appear in the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship. The National Testing Agency conducts UGC NET (University Grants Commission - Nation Eligibility Test) for selecting the candidates for lectureship.

  7. Step 3 – Appear in the Lectureship Eligibility Test As per the UGC NET Eligibility Criteria, the candidate must secure at least 55% aggregate marks in postgraduation to appear in NET Exam. There is no age limit to appear in the UGC NET for Lectureship. So, you should apply for UGC NET English Subject after meeting all the required eligibility criteria.

Step 4 – Apply in Colleges and Institutes with UGC NET Certificate Those who clear the UGC NET Exam and get the certificate in their hand can apply for various openings in colleges and institutes for the post of English Literature lecturer. You will be selected on the basis of your performance in the interview that will be conducted by the recruiting institute.

  9. Step 4 – Apply in Colleges and Institutes with UGC NET Certificate If you get selected for the post, the recruiting organisation will check all your documents including the Certificate for Lectureship.
