Non commercial movement of pet animals • NO - non commercial movement of pets. • All considered imports • Regulation no 998/2003/EC not implemented in Iceland. • Governed by legal act IS 54/1990 on importation of animals. • Importation Prohibited, but......... exemptions, Minister of Agriculture may deviate from ban upon recommendation from CVO. • Regulation IS 935/2004 importation of pet animals and dogs´semen.

  3. Non commercial movement of pet animals • Pets: Dogs, cats, ornamental fish, rodents, rabbits & cage birds. • Cats and dogs Quarantine 28ds - NO Pet Passport. • Rodents, cage birds, pet rabbits home isolation for 30 ds or longer if required. • Import permits • Preimport requirements:Vaccinations – Rabies from non Rabies free countries + Rabies titre 30 ds post vaccination. • Dogs: • C Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Leptospira. • Blood samples for Brucella canis + faecal samples for salmonella spp. • Treatment for ecto- and endoparasites

  4. Non commercial movement of pet animals • Cats: • Rabies: vaccination as for dogs. • Other vaccinations: Panleucopenia, Rhinotracheitis, Calici. • Blood samples for: FelV og FIV • Faecal sample for Salmonella spp. • Treatment for ecto – and endoparasites.

  5. Non commercial movement of pet animals • Non permitted imports: • Animals in certain physiological state – pregnant / nursing. Recently undergone surgery. • Certain breeds of dogs not permitted, eg. Pit Bull Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Filo Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, Toso Inu, Mixtures of wolves and dogs. • Temperament evaluation for certain breeds required.

  6. Non commercial movement of pet animals • Other pets: • Home isolation previously approved by DVO. • Cats and Dogs: • Samples taken during quarantine: • Faecal samples for endoparasties • Dogs only: Blood sample for Canine influenza.
