  1. DRAMA HIGH: A NOVEL JAYD’S LEGACY L.DIVINE By: Vinessa Williams

  2. “How’s Jeremy?” she asks, making me smile. In spite of all the day’s drama the highlight was a quiet lunch with Jeremy at the beach and a slow ride home. I just love the way he makes me feel. And, I love that he loves being with me too. “He’s good. We’re good. That’s why I'm afraid of Nigel coming in and interrupting our flow” I say.(28) When Nigel, one of Jayd’s old best friends, reunites with her in high school she knows that her first lover, Raheem, is somewhere to be found. She tries to keep her distance, but temptation just cant keep her way. Leaving herself indecisive she has to make a decision of either staying with Jeremy, or giving love another try with Raheem.

  3. “Reid, what are you doing at my girl’s locker?” Jeremy says in a very serious and almost threatening tone. “Hello ladies,” Reid says, completely ignoring Jeremy. Just then, Jeremy steps in front of me and toward Reid, like he’s ready to sock the snot out of him with Chance right by his side.(22) The author used the phrase “ready to sock the snot out of him” to show how much hatred Jeremy has towards Reid. The author uses details so let the reader know there will be more dispersions between Jeremy and Reid because Reid is in charge of the Student Government and is in charge of setting up homecoming which is also the biggest event of the year.

  4. “I walk outside class since it doesn’t look like I’m going to catch up with anyone before the bell rings in the next minute. Leaning up against a tree outside Government class, I open the sealed envelop with the letter J on it and unfold the paper inside. “Jayd, I miss you. Call me. Same number, same Rah. Peace.” (34) Once Jayd reads the letter she knows that Raheem is really genuine about being back together with Jayd. But Jayd on the other hand doesn’t want Raheem to interfere with Jayd and Jeremy. With the constant reminders from Raheem, and Jeremy blowing her phone up, Jayd decides to keep her confrontations with Raheem a secret.

  5. “And the senior class nominees for homecoming princess and queen are Kate Roberts, Josie Davis, and Tania Mahyar,” oh, hell no, Jeremy’s ex isn't running for homecoming queen. I don’t’ even think Nellie heard the list; she’s so excited about her own name having been called. I look at Jeremy, whose reaction to Tania’s name is nonexistent. But, he and Chance both notice my response…………….”How can Tania be elected for homecoming queen if she isn’t ever here?” I yell , not caring about anyone in the hall hearing me.(24) At this point the author shows how Jayd feels towards Jeremy’s ex girlfriend Tania after her name was called for being elected for homecoming queen. Jeremy acts as if he didn’t hear her name, or has an reactions towards Tania been nominated, but Jayd on the other hand catches feelings about Tania being elected, and wants Jeremy to acknowledge it.

  6. Walking in, our eyes have to adjust to the dim light. But even a blind person can see Mickey and Nigel making out in the producer’s corner. Trish, sitting on one side of the long could and sipping her drink, is watching Scarface like she's never seen it before and bobbing her head to the smooth beat playing in the background…………….Jeremy gently pushes against m y back, urging me to sit down. And I do, right next to Rah and Jeremy. Snap, the last place I want to be is in between the two of them. But I can’t seem to get out of this one.(179) The author explains the vibe when Jeremy and Jayd show up at Raheem’s house. The author explains how Jayd is stuck sitting in between Jeremy (her now boyfriend) and Raheem (her ex boyfriend). The author also gives the reader a hint to how Jayd doesn’t want to sit down because she knows she would be stuck in between Jeremy and Raheem.

  7. When Jeremy gets here, he finally comes in to meet my mom. Wearing some simple blue Levis, a Cal Berkeley T-shirt and his usual sandals, he looks adorable. His Irish Spring fresh scent precedes him into the apartment. I've also chosen a comfy pair of Levis and an orange V-neck T-shirt to wear with my gold sandals from our first shopping trip for tonight's date. My hair is still in a bun with big earrings and a gold bangle to match.(114) The author explains Jeremy's simple look , and delightful smell when he goes up to meet Jayd’s mother. The author also explains Jayd’s similar look, and lets the reader know Jayd still wears the sandals Jeremy brought her from their first date out to the mall.

  8. She really do look like an uppity ho: Prada or Gucci black off-the-shoulder dress, black heels with her custom-made hair hanging down to her waist. Her nails are freshly manicured with French tips, and a platinum chain and bracelet to match with diamond studs on her earlobes her Daddy probably bought her for Christmas. This broad reeks Ladera Height's money.(179) The author’s attitude towards Trish is very obvious. The author doesn’t like Trish or her uppity ways. The author thinks she is made of Ladera Height’s money, and is a broke ghetto female from the hood who tries to portray a rich girl image.

  9. Raheem and I will always be more than friends. It’s a fact that no matter who he’s dating or who I’m dating, there's always room for us. We don’t have to touch to feel our connection. And, after seeing Jeremy’s true jealous personality, I know he’s not going to understand out relationship. Maybe this is what Mama meant by telling me to talk to my mother about making half asses decisions. I really just want the answer to one question: Will I ever be happy with a man ?(108) The author’s attitude towards Raheem is that he is perfect for Jayd. Raheem and Jayd will always be friends, and will always have something for each other whether they date or are just friends.

  10. Wearing my perfect red dress and gold heels, I’m standing up against the gym wall, alone and watching all the other couples enjoy the dance. Just as I’m ready to call it a night, a man’s hand grabs mine, leading me onto the dance floor. This touch is familiar and I welcome his embrace. As we glide across the dance floor, the lights dime and it’s only us dancing to the slow music playing in the background. My partner, pulling me up slowly into a breathtaking, deep kiss, hungrily obliges my curious lips. (157)
