  1. 5 key priorities Global In-house Centers must focus on in the future Global In-house Centers (GICs) are those centers that are bound to perform designated functions for huge organizations. Over the years, GICs have grown considerably and their potential to create effective cost-savings for enterprises has been impressive. As organizations – large and small – scale and grow, globalization through setting up a Global In-house Center has become their go-to strategy. The global enterprises are facing several challenges including digital disruptions and changing business priorities. Recognizing these obstacles is very important. The disruptions wrought by technology are accelerating to allow improved capabilities like digital IT, process management, data & analytics, software product development, and core research and development. The rate of disruption varies from one industry to another; some are affected significantly than others. Computing power is currently at an inflection point, and it allows us to use data in ways which were previously impossible. However, the intensity of this disruption varies depending on the type of industry. Technology-driven changes are becoming crucial for any type of business. As a result, businesses can now engage more customers in a limited time in a targeted manner via more channels. Long planning cycles have been replaced by the adoption of agile methodology. There has also been a shift in the budget spend. Organizations invest more on those activities that can help them grow their business. This shift has resulted in the changing priorities of CXOs to create a unique opportunity for GICs so that they can play a crucial role in helping enterprises thrive in the increasingly digitally disrupted world. However, there are multiple areas where GICs need to improve to become the GICs of the future. Leadership quality, domain expertise, and automation (augmented by ML and AI) are a few of note. CXOs have listed 6 key priorities that GICs can invest in to become GICs of the future: ⮚ Analytics ⮚ Traditional IT ⮚ Digital Age IT ⮚ Talent Hub ⮚ Business Accountability Business Accountability This refers to the need of GICs to become an owner of the key enterprise priorities. Investing in quality leadership, market sensing, and customer-facing functions are some of the core priorities of an enterprise that can add to considerable improvements in the profit.

  2. Talent Hub Invest in attracting and retaining skilled talent to become a world-class talent hub. Later, GICs can leverage this talent across the teams and BUs for various talent needs. Traditional & Digital IT Overhaul the traditional/conventional IT to compete in the digital age. Keep Digital IT at the heart of the organization. Data & Analytics To become GICs of the future, these global centers need to become centers of excellence. It can help create a competitive advantage for an organization in the functions owned by the GIC. Adopting Agile ways of working The idea of adopting agile methods of developing and leveraging DevOps can help in increasing collaboration, reduced time to market, and fast-track value creation. GICs will need to adopt a holistic approach to achieving these goals.
