  2. Who are Refugees? Where do they come from? How do refugees reach the United States and Idaho?

  3. A refugee is a person who is outsideof his or her country and is unable or unwilling to return because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution.

  6. Refugee In Idaho • Since 1975, 15,000 Refugees came to Idaho • Most Refugees resettled in Idaho are women and Children • In 2011, 775 Refugees arrived in Idaho from 17 different countries

  8. Case Management • Basics life Needs • Temporary financial assistance • Food • Housing • Health Care • With the Goal of helping refugees to reach self-sufficiency in a very short period of time.

  9. Employment Services • Job Search, Application, and Interviewing • Ethics in the Workplace • Financial and Tax literacy • Tax laws and filing process

Immigration Services • Advise clients on legal rights and obligations • Prepare and submit applications for adjustment to lawful permanent resident (LPR) status on behalf of asylees, refugees and others. • Counsel and assist refugees, asylees and others in: • Reuniting with family members • Acquiring work authorization • Acquiring travel documents • Applying for naturalization

English Language Center • American Culture Orientation • Computer literacy • Class for elders: Basic Language Skills, socialization and content necessary for obtaining citizenship • Family literacy for parent & children 3-5 years old • WorkStyles training focusing on job interviews and employability skills.

  12. Women’s Life Skills & Literacy Program • Language acquisition & Culture orientation • Basic economics & Housing needs • Geography & Transportation • Medical services & Vocational skills • Safe place to address women specific needs • Healing Circle addressing Post Traumatic Stress
