  3. A Few Notes: • Service Review • 15 per semester (This is the minimum) . Hours due: JANUARY 20 @ 3:00 PM • 5 school community, 5 beautification, 5 general or from first 2 categories • All signatures for hours need to be signed by a sponsors • Make sure to indicate if you are converting out of school hours to school community • Refer to acceptable service sheet often (if you have ideas, let us know!)

A Few Notes: • Service Review: Upcoming service opportunities - • Halloween Event at Village Center (RH Community) • Thursday, Oct 27 and Friday, Oct 28. • Sign up link on acceptable service sheet • Campus clean up (Beautification) • This Saturday, 10/29, 9:00-10:30 • Beautification aligns with home sport events. Dates for winter will be posted once the sports schedule is finalized by Mr. Lauer • William Sonoma Partners with St. Jude (General) • November 12-13, November 19-20, December 3-4, and December 10-11

RSVP • Raising Student Voice and Participation • Student-lead discussions about the issues that matter to us today • Gather around the tables with the large yellow papers on them -- 8-10 people per table • Think about what changes you would like to see take place in River Hill and discuss with your table • Right these down on the sheet of paper on your table

  7. Voting Overview • Vote on Scantrons • DO NOT write your name on the ballot • The number assigned to each Bylaw Revision corresponds to the appropriate number on the Scantron • Rules for Bylaw Voting: • Bubble A for YES • Bubble B for NO

Bylaw Revision #1 Before: N/A After: Any member with a disability or other extenuating circumstance that might prevent them from otherwise completing their hours as required may request and/or be subject to special requirements set by the Executive Board on a case-by-case basis in order to help said member in his or her circumstances. The requirement to complete 15 hours per semester must be met.

  9. Bylaw Revision #2 Before: Each student is required to turn in his or her hours to the Service Coordinator at the specified date for each marking period. Each marking period, a total of 10 service hours must be completed, with 5 of these 10 service hours coming from a National Honor Society sponsored event, or from helping the school through a teacher, guidance, or other help. Failure to turn in hours before the posted deadline will result in an assignment of an additional two in-school service hours. After: Each student is required to turn in his or her hours to the Service Coordinator at the specified date for each semester. Each semester, a total of 15 service hours must be completed, with 5 of these 15 service hours coming from the Chapter Service Project, 5 from activities in the School Community (which shall be defined as any approved activity which takes place within the confines of the River Hill High School district within the Howard County Public School System), and 5 from either or both of the aforementioned categories, or from any approved activity outside the confines of either, which shall be defined as Out of School. Hours from Out of School will be allowed to be converted into School Community Hours (but not Chapter Service Project Hours) at a ratio of 3:1. This ratio is not applicable when submitting School Community or Chapter Beautification Hours in the place of Out of School Hours. In addition, while earning School Community Hours, a maximum of 3 of those 5 hours can be obtained by assisting a teacher or instructor. Failure to turn in hours before the posted deadline will result in an assignment of an additional two School Community service hours.

  10. Bylaw Revision #3 Before: All students are required to participate in the Chapter’s service project, which currently is Adopt-A-Road-Trotter Road. All students must participate once during each school year that they hold membership. After: All students are required to participate in the Chapter’s service project, which currently is School Beautification. All students must contribute a minimum of 5 hours each semester, with a total of a minimum of 10 hours each school year that they hold membership.

Bylaw Revision #6 Before: Correspondent: Manages the chapter website and FaceBook pageand updates information regularly, Communicates with members through email and facebook, Creates the induction slideshow, Assists the secretary as needed, Is responsible for at least one meeting activity during the year.   14. Bylaw Revision #7 Before: 1/3 of all current members of the executive board needed to act on any legislation. After: 1/3 of all current members of the executive board shall compose the minimum quorum needed to act on any legislation.

  20. Fundraising Ideas • Springo • Community bingo night at the beginning of spring • People would pay to get in, and could win prizes donated by the community • We would require members to participate by buying a ticket, helping at the event, etc.

Fundraising Ideas • We also would like input on what charity to fundraise for this year. • Discuss Springo, other fundraising ideas of your own and charities to fundraise for in small groups for a few minutes. • Please email the executive board by November 30th if you have a suggestion for fundraising, we would love to have member input! • nhsrhhs@gmail.com

  22. RSVP Session 2 • How can we make these changes happen? • What actions can staff, admin, etc take to make River Hill better? • Discuss your ideas and write them down on the sheet of paper at your table

Induction Ceremony • Mandatory Rehearsal: Monday, 11/28 after school • ALL MEMBERS report to the Auditorium • Actual Ceremony (Mandatory): Wednesday, 11/30 6:30-8:30 • Attire: formal attire • Mentors should arrive early (time TBD) to review their responsibilities • Seniors must attend both the rehearsal and the ceremony
