THE PURPOSE OF Respecting DIFFERENCES: When people feel respected for who they are and what they bring to the table, the work environment sees: • Increased morale • Reduced stress • Improved staff (and Board/Council) retention • Less sick days • Efficient and effective collaboration toward decision-making
Objectives • Explore visible and invisible differences and the incumbent issues using the SUNSHINE MODEL. • Discover the sophisticated defenses we use when encountering differences we don’t understand using the RED ZONE/GREEN ZONE MODEL. • Examine the difference of our INTENT versus the IMPACT of our behaviors on being productive and collaborative.

Differences SUNSHINE MODELInstructions: Think about yourself and how you are “different.” List those differences around your “sun” below. On page 5, list the personal and professional advantages and privileges of your difference, as well as the personal and professional disadvantages.
