Cuba • Treaty of Paris- Although officially independent US occupied Cuba • Platt Amendment • Cuba could not make treaties with out US approval • US could intervene in Cuba • Cuba could not go into debt • US could buy land for naval refueling (Guantanamo Bay) • US protectorate • Used as an example for treatment of other Latin American Countries
