  3. RCRA Data and TRI • Divide RCRA facilities according to amounts and TRI chemicals • Greater than 100 tons, 50-100 tons, and 10-50 tons • Use TRI Explorer to determine if facilities filed TRI Reports for 2005 • http://www.epa.gov/triexplorer

  4. RCRA Data and TRI • Compare several hundred RCRA facilities to TRI database • Develop target list of top 25 potential TRI non-reporters for inspection

  5. RCRA Data and TRI • FY 2006 inspected six RCRA permitted facilities • Two facilities were out of compliance for failure to file TRI reports-resulting in penalties • Three facilities were filing TRI reports but were not meeting TRI threshold amounts • One facility was in compliance

  6. Benefits of the Process • Provide compliance assistance to facilities • Improve quality of data being reported to TRI database • Improve cross program coordination in Region 7
