Strategic Plan Support and Strengthen Clubs • Foster club innovation and flexibility • Encourage clubs to participate in a variety of service activities • Promote membership diversity • Improve member recruitment and retention • Develop leaders • Start new clubs • Encourage strategic planning at club and district levels

Strategic Plan How are we doing as a District? • We have 2,812 members as of July 1, 2015 versus 2,880 on July 1, 2012 • It has been 8 years since we exceeded 3,000 members • We bring in 338 new members each year on average • We lose 364 members each year on average • 29% of the 2,880 members have left in the past 3 years • 25% of the 1,013 members that joined in the past 3 years have left in the past 3 years

  6. District 5950 clubs experiencing growth during past 3 years • Over 30% - 1 club • South Metro Mpls Evenings • Over 20% - 3 clubs • Cokato-Dassel, Edina Morningside, Lake Minnetonka-Excelsior • Over 13% - 6 clubs • Monticello, Hutchinson, Maple Grove, Willmar, Willmar Lakes, Minnetonka

  7. Success Stories • Edina Morningside – 22% growth • Rob Laughlin, Heather Haen Anderson and John Sorteberg • Minnetonka – 13% growth • Lenny Newman and Guy Marzano • South Metro Minneapolis Evenings – 33% growth • Marisa Baer

  8. Setting Goals • 22 of 63 clubs have entered a membership goal into Rotary Central for 2015-16 • 5 of the 10 clubs that have experienced growth have entered their goal • When written, goals are 80% to 90% more likely to be achieved

Attracting New Members • Vibrant Clubs – Be a Vibrant Club • Business, Professional and Community Leaders • Female – District 5950 currently 26% • Young Professionals – District 5950 currently 6% • Ethnicity • Men and women in their 60s • Communicating with prospective members • What is attractive about your club?

Member Engagement • Treat members like customers • Help them appreciate the benefits of membership • Customer satisfaction survey • How does your club treat members as a customer? • How do you immediately engage new members? • How do you engage members for the first 3 years? • How do you engage long-time members?

  11. New Member Engagement • Of the 1,990 member terminations in District 5950 the past 5 years 18% terminated in year 1 and 29% in year 2 • New member orientation • Mentoring • Engagement • Leadership • 1 to 1 conversations
