  2. Joel Iwataki is a distinguished film score mixer, composer, and voice engineer with a storied career in the music and entertainment industry.

  3. Born in 1951 in New York City, Joel Iwataki developed a deep passion for music early in life, later channeling that passion into an extraordinary career blending creativity, technical mastery, and musical innovation.

  4. At age 19, Joel Iwataki temporarily left school to work as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Yet, his undeniable dedication to music prompted him to return and study the craft formally.

  5. From 1987 to 1990, Joel Iwataki served on the Board of the Pacific Composers Forum in Los Angeles, where he honed his compositional and collaborative skills, laying the foundation for his future in music composition and sound mixing.

  6. Joel’s creative repertoire includes composing two musicals: “Canton Jazz Club” (1991) and “Beijing Spring” (1996), both produced at East West Players in Los Angeles. A revival of “Beijing Spring” in 2006 reaffirmed the enduring impact of his work
