  2. What you need Today? • Netbook open to virtual classroom • Reading novel • Writers Journal • Pen/pencil • Your work ethic

  3. Notes • Open virtual classroom • Rubrics for Literary Essay • Journal and Lit. Essay reflection marked • Who’s missing what? • Where have all the paragraphs gone? • And really, where have all the in-text citations and works cited go? • Look over your literary essay. What do you see now that you didn’t see when you submitted?

Some items to Discuss • Possessive and plural possessive • Contractions • Then/than • Punctuation (periods, commas, …) • Quoting pieces containing dialogue • Introducing quotations (not Ex: or “…” this was said by Atticus. • Punctuation for in-text citation (Lee 80). • Third person, present tense • Titles and capitals and formatting: http://www.writersblock.ca/tips/monthtip/tipmar98.htm • Headers? • Exclamation points

  6. What’s Wrong Here? • This is shown when Scout says “I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks” (259, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mocking Bird). • Tom Robinson is a kind hearted man that took time out of his life, time and time, again to help Ms. Mayella Ewell. This lady accused Tom of raping her when she was the one who assaulted him.   • Fortunately, there were also events like the present’s  in the knot hole…

  7. Writing Journal • What is one thing you would like to tell me, but just haven’t had the opportunity? It could be about this class, you as a person, how you’re doing in school, something I should know about how you learn, your family situation, your friends, your interests, or just some thoughts about how you are doing overall. Whatever it is, write a half a page. Don’t be shy and don’t hold back! I enjoy a good rant as much as anything.
