  1. Are jigsaw puzzles good for child development? There are many advantages to using puzzles at an early age, for child development. Toddlers begin by solving simple puzzles that are basic outlines of simple shapes, most of the time, wooden pieces with pegs, that fit into matching board cutouts. As they get older and their motor skills improve, and develop, they move to more complex silhouettes of real-world objects that require more effort and focus. Here is a list of jigsaw puzzle health benefitsfor your children as they grow, and mature. 1.Concentration Many young children have a short attention span, approximately one minute long. With the right age-appropriate puzzles you can develop concentration muscles in your children. 2.Spatial Perception When solving a jigsaw puzzle, spatial perception comes into play. Your child will learn to determine which pieces will fit together by studying the colors and shapes. At first, they will play with the pieces trying to find a correct fit but with time, they will learn to do this in their heads instead of applying the physical trial-and-error method. 3.Distinguishing Shapes Young children need to learn to differentiate between shapes like: triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. Many simple puzzles teach geometric forms or the outline shapes of animals, vehicles and people. You can help your child work on understanding the shapes by buying puzzle sets that feature geometric forms. 4.Hand-Eye Coordination Jigsaw puzzles have proven to work effectively at helping young kids with their hand-eye coordination. Puzzles will train their eyes and hands to work together. 5.Problem Solving Skills

  2. Putting together a puzzle presents a basic problem. The child needs to organize and assemble the jigsaw puzzle giving them the opportunity to learn problem-solving skills. I bought my daughter her first set of jigsaw puzzles when she was 4 years old. My daughter is now 9 and she is exceptionally intelligent. I thank jigsaw puzzles for her impressive development. Her concentration and attention span has significantly increased which also helps her learn faster.
