Why should you create questions? • Creating questions can help you study, and be ENGAGED with the study material. • Taking statements and other text from source material and creating questions, leads to OWNERSHIP of YOUR learning! • Creating and forming questions is important step in the process of learning.

  3. The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) 4 essential rules for producing your own questions: Step 1: Produce your questions • Ask as many questions as you can, • Do not stop to discuss, judge or answer the questions, • Write down every question exactly as it is stated, • Change any statement into a question.

  4. The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) Step 2: Improve your questions • Categorize the questions as closed (one possible answer) to open (many possible answers), • Name the advantages and disadvantages of each type of question, • Change questions from one type to another.

  5. The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) Step 3: Prioritize the Questions • Choose the three (or more) best questions, • Why did you choose these as the most important?

  6. The Question Formulation Technique (QFT) Step 4: Time to answer your questions 1. How are you going to answer the questions? 2. What do you need to answer the questions? 3. Are there any techniques that can help you answer your questions?

  7. Time to put the QFT into practice! • Turn this statement into a question. Create as many questions as you can in the time allotted. Practicing Spanish daily is an important step in preparing for class. • Remember your steps!

  8. Question Check Time! • What are your questions? • Which ones are open or closed? • Which ones are the most important or the best questions? • Why did you choose those questions? • How would you answer the questions? What resources would you need to answer the questions?
