Eruption Types. Explosive- Contains large amounts of silica, water and gases which makes composite volcanoes extremely explosive and loud. Semi-explosive- Contains large amounts of gas but aren’t as explosive as composite volcanoes but more explosive than shield volcanoes.

  1. Eruption Types Explosive- Contains large amounts of silica, water and gases which makes composite volcanoes extremely explosive and loud. Semi-explosive- Contains large amounts of gas but aren’t as explosive as composite volcanoes but more explosive than shield volcanoes. Quiet- The shield volcano has a low, quiet explosion because it has a low viscosity and as a result has small amount of silica and gas.
