  4. It was a time in the 1500’s when scientists began to question old ideas about the world. Geocentric theory Aristotle

  5. Geocentric theory • -The earth is the center of the universe • Heliocentric theory • _______________ is the center of the universe

  6. Scientists promoted the idea that knowledge should be based on experimentation and observation.

  7. Scientists: • Nicolaus Copernicus used math to prove the universe was sun-centered. Heliocentric theory

  8. Galileo confirmed Copernicus’s findings through his use of the telescope.

  9. Isaac Newton used math to prove the existence of gravity. Law of Gravity 

  10. Effects: • Due to the works of these scientists, the scientific method was used to solve problems by the 1600’s.
