  2. The Founding History Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana, founded on September 8, 1797 by Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen, was the 17th mission founded and was named after Saint Ferdinand, king of Spain. The mission is located in Los Angeles.

Location Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana is located in the middle of the triangle formed by Interstate 5, Interstate 405, and the California 118 at the North end of the San Fernando Valley, to the North of Los Angeles. The mission’s address is 15151 San Fernando Mission Boulevard. The mission is in the coastal region of California.
